Be comparative: compare two films or filmmakers—similarities or differences

Argue with the film(maker)

If you want to talk about why a film moved you or didn’t, try to describe the way the film is made—particularly discuss use of editing, camera work, sound, silence, voice, color, textures, rhythms.

Don’t:

Simply describe the film (We’ve seen the film)—Rather: what is film exploring, or what is its concept or theme or question
