PROJECT OVERVIEW:
In this project, you will complete a collaboration activity worksheet to reflect on your identity, core values, and personal experiences. You will then apply what you have learned about yourself to complete a professional biography (bio). In your bio, you will discuss how your identity and personality have impacted your professional life.
SCENARIO:
You work for Gauze and Effect, a local humanitarian organization that provides emergency medical care to people in crisis.
Gauze and Effect Logo
Your friend Dr. Lee is the founder of Gauze and Effect. Two years ago, he asked you to join the nonprofit as its first part-time employee. Now, you are leaving your current job and taking a full-time position with Gauze and Effect. You’ll be managing a subdivision of the administrative team that works on Gauze and Effect’s community relations.
Dr. Lee is thrilled that you’ve accepted a full-time position at Gauze and Effect. He has asked you to take part in a short collaboration activity before your first team meeting. He also wants to announce your new position in the nonprofit’s e-newsletter, The Gauzette. The announcement will include your professional biography—a short summary of your professional experience.
DIRECTIONS:
1. Collaboration Activity

Dr. Lee is planning the next leadership team meeting. This is the first one that you will be attending. He wants to focus on how to foster a strong and collaborative team dynamic.
To help members learn more about each other and start the conversation, he has asked each of you to complete the collaboration activity. In the activity, you will take a personality test so you can reflect on your identity as you prepare for your new job. Download, complete, and submit the Collaboration Activity worksheet as one of your deliverables for this project. In the worksheet, you will be instructed to take a personality test and respond to some short prompts. These prompts will help you reflect on your identity, core values, and personal experiences.
2. Lee, the founder of Gauze and Effect, has asked for your professional biography (bio) for the e-newsletter, The Gauzette. Your bio should be a short summary of your career achievements, soft skills, and personality traits. You could also use some of the information on a professional networking profile like LinkedIn. Using what you’ve learned about your identity, complete the Professional Bio Template.
You’ll find more information on how to complete the professional bio template in the Supporting Materials section.
Note: The information in your professional bio should reference a job you had in the past or your current position, but it should be based on a real job.
