Discuss, using research, how children develop from infancy through adolescence: infant/toddler (0-2.5)
early childhood (2.5-7)
middle childhood (8-11)
adolescence (12-18).
For each developmental stage, you will analyze what is happening with a child at each stage, socially/emotionally, cognitively, physically and how at each stage we should guide children and respond to their challenging behavior.
Please include four developmental theorists (Like Jean Piaget, Erik Erikson, Sigmund Freud, Maria Montessori) and their perspective on children’s development in your discussion. You should also support your ideas with evidence from our readings AND additional research.
For example:
What do you know, based on your readings and research, about infants and toddlers?
You all then discuss their developmental stage across the domains (social/emotional, cognitive, physical) and then analyze how the adults in the child’s life should guide the child and respond to challenging behavior.
Explain why based on your readings and research should the adults should respond this way.
How might a two-year-old child behave? Why?
How can adults help them when they are having big feelings? Why is this a helpful way to support the child?
