Write a 2 page essay in which you will reflect upon and write about your perspective, knowledge and experience related to stereotypes and representation in African American Hollywood and Independent films. You must address the following:
1.Provide information regarding your cultural background, your personal and academic interests, your personal and academic strengths, as well as your expectations of this course and (this is important), what YOU will do in order to maximize your experience in this class.
2. SHare your background and your experience watching, studying, creating, and/or critiquing films (in general).
3. What is the definition of a “Black” film (this may be your personal opinion)?
4. Name at least three “Black” films (based on your definition of “Black” films) from the last two years that you have viewed. Briefly discuss your reaction to them.
5. How has watching “Black” films (if applicable) influenced your perspective on African-Americans or those from the Black Diaspora?
