Question
George, an RBT, is at his uncle’s wedding when he notices that his friend’s 10-year-old child is rocking back and forth for no apparent reason. George’s friend observes this too and asks George to help the child to stop doing that from now on, given that George has experience with this type of behavior in his role as an RBT. How should George respond?
A  I’d love to help your child! I received supervised training and experience with this type of behavior. One of my clients used to rock back and forth too, but they stopped soon after I started working with him. When should we start?
B  Sorry, I can’t help. Even though I received supervised training and experience with this type of behavior, I think he’s doing it because he ate cake filled with sugar.
C  I’d love for your child to receive the help that he needs. However, I am your nephew and it wouldn’t be appropriate for me to provide services to someone I know. I could refer you to a behavior analyst if you would like.
D  I could help if your child, as long as you provide consent and talk to my supervisor, who will write the procedure that I will use to decrease the future frequency of rocking back and forth.
